Labor & Industry Museum - Belleville, Illinois History

Belleville's brewing heritage dates back to 1829, when Jacob Fleishbein established the first brewery in the State of Illinois. The Fleishbein Brewery was renamed the St. Clair Brewery in 1845. The two largest breweries, Star (1853-1954) and Stag (1851-1988), figured prominently for well over 100 years.
